PlayKana Privacy Policy

Overview

PlayKana is designed to collect as little data as possible. This policy describes what we collect, why, and how you can reach us with questions.

Data we collect

• On-device progress: your selected kana groups, last-used study mode, and local high scores are stored on your device (via localStorage on web and AsyncStorage on mobile). They are not sent to us.
• Anonymous diagnostics: crash reports and aggregated usage counts, used solely to fix bugs and guide improvements.
• Advertising identifiers: if ads are shown, Google AdMob may use device identifiers as described in their policy.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, or the content of your study sessions. PlayKana is fully usable without an account.

Future cloud sync

Cloud-synced progress and spaced repetition are on our roadmap. When those arrive, syncing will be strictly opt-in and this policy will be updated with the details of what is stored and where.

Third-party services

• Google AdMob — contextual ads (may be disabled by upgrading).
• Jisho.org — deep links for dictionary lookups. No data is sent; we only open their public URLs.

Children’s privacy

PlayKana is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
